Dr. Mel Rosenberg is Professor of Microbiology in the Human Microbiology Department, Sackler Faculty of Medicine, and the Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. He holds honorary appointments at the Eastman Dental Center (University of London) and the University of Rochester in the US.

Over the past fifteen years, Dr. Rosenberg's work has focused on the diagnosis and treatment of bad breath, and more recently, body odors. His early work on volatile sulphide measurement led to the establishment of the Halimeter™ as a laboratory and clinical test for oral malodour. More recently he co-developed the OK-2-Kiss test, which is a 'litmus paper' test for bad breath risk. Dr. Rosenberg is inventor of Dentyl pH mouthwash, and more recently of Breathanol™, a novel anti-malodor flavour which has been incorporated in mouthwash, chewing gum, toothpaste, and lozenges. He has also invented a deodorant soap and deodorant shoe spray which are marketed internationally. Dr. Rosenberg has published over 100 scientific articles, editorials, and books, including a recent article in Scientific American'. He has lectured on bad breath to scientists and clinicians around the world. In 1996, Dr. Rosenberg co-founded the International Society for Breath Odor Research, and currently serves as the Society's president. The Society's seventh international conference takes place in August in Chicago.
Dr. Rosenberg's hobbies include music and writing. He sings and plays saxophone, appearing regularly with his jazz quartet. He writes stories for children and published two children's book (Bacteria Galore by Sunday at Four, and The Witch from Netanya) and has recently produced a film for children (The Witch and the Toothbrush).
